“Blue, green, grey, white, or black; smooth, ruffled, or mountainous; that ocean is not silent.”  - H. P. Lovecraft

About the Game:

Barometer Red is a rogue-like with resource management and turn-based combat. I made it some time ago as an assignment for a college course. It's inspired by the works of an aforementioned author, Darkest Dungeon, World of Horror, and- most prominently- Iron Lung.

Story:

Driven by curiosity, you delve deep into the black depths of the ocean. Manage the hull of your vessel and an ever-depleting supply of oxygen to retrieve samples from the oceanic life. Do battle with unsightly horrors and perhaps even barter with them. Shall you escape having probed the biology of the abyss? Or be felled like the rest?

How to play:

Navigate to a sample using the North, West, East, and South buttons in the side menu. In combat use the links that appear in the center menu.

Tips:

Navigating back to the starting room (N0E0) fully refills your oxygen.

If an M appears after N or E and before a number in the quadrantes that means its that value of tiles south or west respectively from the starting area.

If you run into a wall, try a different direction.

When in combat you're only allowed 3 actions per turn but some abilities take more actions to use. The action cost of an ability is listed in parentheses next to that ability.

The writing is done well, with lots of detailed descriptions!

Thank you!

I stuck in "You still have 4 samples to collect"

Oh yeah, apologies. I probably should've added a controls section- I forgot the navigation is slightly convoluted. Try using the North East West and South buttons on the sidebar.

A "How to Play" section has been added to the description.
